Mike Ott is one of those people who are just natural performers.  He's one of those rare people whose combination of charm, confidence and talent draws you in from the moment you see him perform.  Mike is by no means a stranger to the stage or to impressive productions.  As far back as the 1980s, Mike was a strong presence in a string of successful local rock bands including Jeremy Scared, Uncle Mary, King Friday and countless others.  Many of us had the pleasure of seeing several of those bands reunite last summer for the Butte Rock Festival.

Mike's talents are by no means limited to music and performing as he is an incredibly talented visual artist as well.  His birthday falls on Halloween and for decades, Mike has been the man behind some of Southwest Montana's most stunning (and scary) Halloween Haunted Houses in years past and over the past few holidays he has transformed his family's home into a graveyard of nightmares.

The Ott's impressive Halloween display

To say that Mike and Tiffany Ott go all-in for Halloween would be an understatement. Their display is the best in town and here's a look at what we saw.

Not that it comes as any surprise, but Mike is one of Montana's finest magicians and he is putting on another Magic and Comedy Show this Friday at the Butte Elks, 206 W. Galena.

This is going to be good.  Doors open at 6pm, the show starts at 7pm and due to adult innuendo, discretion is advised.  Admission is free but tips are certainly encouraged.

Dozens of mine headframes used to dot the Butte hill but most have since been torn down or swallowed by the Pit. Here are the ones that still tower proudly over our town.
