Miners Union Day to be celebrated June 17 at World Museum of Mining.

Miners Union Day is a pretty important day in Butte history.  Organized labor in itself played a huge role in Butte's early mining days as fair wages, safe working conditions and reasonable hours were literally fought and died for.  On June 13, 1914, labor tensions led to rioting and the eventual ransacking of the Miners Union Hall, which was blown up in the early hours the following morning.

In 2023, although labor riots are expected to be at a minimum, Miners Union Day will be celebrated on Saturday, June 17 at the World Museum of Mining.  The following is from a press release:

Join the World Museum of Mining (WMM) on June 17th in celebration of Miners Union Day.  As part of the festivities, general admission to the museum is free, there will also be reduced rates for underground tours, and food trucks will be on site. Author Brenda Wahler will do a presentation on her new book: "Marcus Daly's Road to Montana,” at 11:30.
