Strong Legs Run, So Weak Legs Can Walk. It’s Shrine Week In Butte
The 76th Annual Montana East-West Shrine Game will be played in Butte this Saturday night.
The Montana Shrine Game is the premier all-star game in Montana and has a long history of distinguished players and coaches. It is also one of the oldest high school football games in America. Every year since 1947, Montana’s finest high school football players are selected to compete in the game to raise money and awareness of the care available at the Shriner’s Hospital in Spokane Washington.
The experts at the Shriner’s Hospital provide orthopedic and burn care regardless of a family’s ability to pay. Over the last decade, the Montana Game has raised over 1 Million dollars for the hospital, making the Montana Game the top high school Shrine Game in the nation for hospital donations.
The game will be played on the campus of Butte High School, at Naranche Stadium. Doors will open at 5pm, and kickoff is scheduled for 7pm. You can purchase your tickets online through the Butte Civic Center, HERE. Or can purchase them at the game.
The game features forty of Montana’s finest athletes for each of the East and West teams, there are also a pair of Canadian players joining us again this year. The game will also feature Cheerleaders from across the great state of Montana that have met a high standard of excellence at their respective schools.
The West roster is highlighted by five players from the Class AA Champion Helena Capital Bruins and three players from Back-to-Back Class B State Champs, Florence Carlton.
The East is powered by five players from the Fergus Eagles, Class A champions for 2023, along with three players from the Class A runner-up- Billings Central. The East has a player each from the 8-man Champs out of Belt, as well as 6-man victors Big Sandy.
Here are the full list of participants. EAST ROSTER, WEST ROSTER, and CHEERLEADERS.
The game is only part of the fun, we will dig into all the events surrounding the 76th annual Montana East-West Shrine game a bit later.
Over 70 years of Excellence, the Shrine Game is coming up this weekend.
