The Montana East-West Shrine Game is the oldest Shrine Game in the country, dating back to August 24, 1947. The 76th annual game will make its return to Butte and will be played at Naranche Stadium on the campus of Butte High School. This will be the second time the game has been played at Naranche Stadium.
The first time the game was played in Butte, it was contested at Bulldog Memorial Stadium at East Middle School. It has also been played a pair of times (including 2019) at Alumni Coliseum on the campus of Montana Tech.
The Montana Shrine Game is not only the premier all-star game in the state of Montana, but it is also the top high school Shrine Game in the nation for hospital donations. Over the last 10 years alone, this game has raised over $1,000,000 for the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital in Spokane, Washington.
Forty of Montana’s finest high school players have been selected for both the East and the West teams, along with 2 players from Canada. Both teams will also have a full contingent of cheerleaders who have met a high standard of excellence in their high school years.
The cheerleaders and players have been nominated by administrators and coaches from their respective schools. After nomination, the rosters are decided on by a committee of individuals who have the arduous task of bringing the total roster down to 40 players. You can view the team rosters, cheerleaders, and coaches all on the MTShrinegame.org website.
Once again, the game will be played at Naranche Stadium in Butte on June 17, 2023. Tickets for the game and the banquet are on sale as of today and you can find them on The Shrine Game Website Or you can purchase them through the Butte Civic Center website as well.
