This Saturday, Butte's "Touchdown" Tommy Mellott will lead the MSU Bobcats into Bobcat Stadium for the final time and, as expected, it is deep in the FCS Playoffs. Very deep. If the Bobcats beat South Dakota. Montana State will return to the National Championship game, a place they have been to before. In fact, had it not been for an injury to Mellott early in their last championship appearance many (including myself) believe the Bobcats would have won the game. But that is not the point. The point is that Mellott has brought the Bobcats back.

And with good reason. The Dogs are coming in red-hot, riding a six-game winning streak and winners of 7 of their last 8 games. The regular season has come to a close and the seedings are set for the 2024 Western AA Boys and Girls Basketball Tournament which begins Thursday at the Butte Civic Center.
