I don't think any of us can imagine a summer without an ice cream cone.  I have fond memories of my father sneaking me away from our house on Diamond Street, walking up to the old S&L Ice Cream Parlor and selecting something from their crazy menu that they had descriptively painted on the back wall.  Great memories.

Although the S&L was hand-dipped and is long gone, if you're craving a cone there are still a few places around where you can get your soft-serve fix.

This is my personal favorite.  Vanilla or chocolate cones or twisted together.  If you want a treat, get a cone with their candied nut sprinkles.  Simply delightful.  And if you want to make it a perfect day, order it with a double cheeseburger.

Something about a cone from A&W that really takes me back to my youth.  Their cones are fantastic and easily made into a delicious root beer float.

MCDONALD'S

McDonald's has delicious soft serve and their cones are usually among the most reasonably priced in town.  Here's a little menu hack.  Order a cone, an apple pie and ask for a cardboard go-box and a fork.  Put the pie in the go-box, put the cone on top and voila, McPie ala Mode!

DAIRY QUEEN

Dairy Queen is awesome because you always have the option of having your cone dipped.  And if you're on the run, a Dilly Bar is always a viable option.
