Miners Union Day Celebration Saturday at World Museum of Mining
When it comes to Butte History our town is nearly synonymous with mining and unionized labor. It is part of what shaped the history of Butte and with very good reason. Since being settled, the streets of Butte have many times been the battleground between the wealthy mine owners and the working class miners. There is a monument just south of the Federal Courthouse on Main Street that will attest to the conflict. For miners, unions were their lifeblood. Butte has been called the "Gibraltar of Labor" and is a community where labor unions still maintain a strong presence.

Miner's Union Day will be celebrated this Saturday, June 19 here in the Mining City at the World Museum of Mining, not with unrest but with free admission to the museum for the whole family. Explore Hell Roarin' Gulch and the exhibits that replicate the era of Butte's heyday.
The World Museum of Mining is home to the only tour in the country where you actually go inside the actual works of an underground mine and discounted rates to tour the Orphan Girl Mine will be in effect on Saturday.

The Orphan Girl is also the site of the Underground Music Summer Concert Series and will be featuring Chad Okrusch next Tuesday, so be sure to ask about tickets to his shows or any other on the schedule,
