Imagine a life where exposure to sunlight can compromise your very life.  For the Dessing Family of Butte, this is their reality and recently this reality took a very unexpected and life-threatening turn.  Beau Dessing was born with a condition called Erythropoietic Protoporphyria, or EPP, which causes hypersensitivity of the skin to sunlight.  Last June, Beau was sunburnt, and things have not been the same since.  The following three months saw Beau hospitalized on and off here in Butte at St. James Healthcare.  He has since been transferred to the University of Utah Hospital where he is awaiting a bone marrow and liver transplant.  Beau's parents, Craig and Kaila Dessing, now face an uncertain financial future in addition to the heartbreaking task of caring for a sick child.

MacKenzie River Pizza, Grill and Pub along with Craig's employer, Keller Williams Copper City Realty, are planning a fundraiser to help the Dessing Family with housing, travel, food and day-to-day expenses as they care for Beau.  The fundraiser will be taking place on Saturday, October 21 at Mack River, 3450 Monroe, from 3pm to 8pm.  Both live and silent auctions are planned along with a 50/50 drawing.  Weather permitting there will be a 2-person cornhole tournament, the cost is $25 per person to enter.  In addition to these events, MacKenzie River Pizza, Grill and Pub will be donating a portion of all food sales to the Dessing Family.  If you or your organization have an item for the auctions or even if you would just like to make a cash donation or have any questions, please call Keller Williams Copper City Realty at (406) 465-0500.
