
Digger Volleyball returns home, football team hits the road this weekend
The Montana Tech Women's Volleyball Team looks to get back to their winning ways with a pair of matches at home this week while the football team heads to the Hi Line for an important conference showdown, Here is where you will find the Orediggers this weekend.
VOLLEYBALL
After dropping 4 of 5 matches, the Oredigger volleyball team on Wednesday downed UM Western on the road in 5 sets and look to extend their winning ways with a pair of contests at home over the weekend. On Friday, the Diggers will face Valley City State at 7pm in Valley Bank Arena at Kelvin Sampson Court. Valley City State is 6-10 overall, 4-7 in the Frontier Conference-East and are on a 2-match losing streak. The Orediggers earlier defeated the Vikings 3-2 on September 6 in Valley City, North Dakota.
Saturday it's a 2pm match against the Mayville State Comets from Mayville, North Dakota who come into the contest with a 5-11 overall mark, 3-8 in conference play. The Orediggers swept the Comets on the road on September 5th.
FOOTBALL
The Orediggers are in uncharted waters as they sport their first 6-0 mark in school history. Their latest victory was last Saturday's Homecoming win over Dakota State, 49-21. This Saturday the team heads to Havre, Montana to take on the MSU-Northern Lights at 1pm. The Lights picked up their first win of the season last week at home, 23-7 over Eastern Oregon University. Common opponents have been Carroll College who beat Northern 20-0 in the season opener, Montana-Western who beat them 52-0 the following week and the College of Idaho who beat them 38-16 two weeks ago. Montana Tech beat Carroll 30-19 in Week 2, they beat Montana-Western 38-27 in the season opener and beat the College of Idaho 27-24 on September 27th.
