More outstanding local theater in on tap in Southwest Montana with an exciting local project taking place next weekend in the Smelter City.  The following is a release from the Copper Village Museum and Arts Center in Anaconda:

The OPEN THEATRE PROJECT of Anaconda in conjunction with The Copper Village Museum and Arts Center and Anaconda Junior Senior High School of Anaconda will be presenting THE GIVER on November 15,16 and 17.

This stage adaptation of Lois Lowry’s Newberry Award winning novel tells the story of young Jonas who inhabits a world of the future that is perfect. In this world everything is under control and safe. When Jonas is chosen for special training to receive and keep the memories of the community he learns the truth about life—and the hypocrisy of his utopian world. As a result, he must make a life changing decision that will affect his destiny and the future of his community.

This adaptation by Eric Coble will be presented by cast of local youth and adults. The show will be presented at the Anaconda High School Little Theatre (515 Main Street Anaconda). No reservations are required, and tickets will be available at the door only. Cost is $10 for adults, $5 for youth. Show times are Friday, November 15th at 7pm, Saturday, November 16th at 7pm, and Sunday, November 17th at 2:00pm. Due to some of the themes, the show is recommended for ages ten and over. For further details or information, please contact Suzanne Konicek at the Copper Village Museum and Arts Center in Anaconda at (406) 533-5269 or email sue@coppervillage.org.
