Community Day, Classic Car Raffle on tap at Old Prison Museum in Deer Lodge
In commemoration of the opening of their new Auto Museum addition, the Old Montana Prison Museum Complex in Deer Lodge is holding Community Days at the old prison complex on Saturday, June 3. The event is free and will include a DJ, games, live music and will have food trucks on hand.
The Old Montana Prison Complex features not only the haunting grounds of the old Montana Territorial Prison but also the new Auto Museum, the Powell County Museum, Yesterday's Playthings, Frontier Montana and the Yellowstone Trail. Each section is carefully curated and informative and is well-representative of Powell County and the State of Montana. These museums and exhibits are the work of the Powell County Museum and Arts Foundation who are open to new members and are always welcoming to those who would like to volunteer. The PCMAF operates without state or federal funding and relies on gate receipts, fundraisers and membership dues for operating capital. There are several membership options available, and each may be tax deductible as they are a non-profit 501 (C) 3 organization. Their mission is "to preserve and interpret the history of Montana, Powell County, Deer Lodge, and the Arts."
