You might argue that any time you visit this place, you are, in fact, visiting a haunted house.  Or, at least, the Big House.  A very haunted Big House.  The Old Montana Prison in Deer Lodge, from most accounts, is one of the most active paranormal locations in Montana if not the entire Northwest.

Even though it has been out of official use for many decades, it's spooky, almost medieval.appearance will give you chills just looking at it. It's location right in the middle of Deer Lodge has kept it going as a historical museum as well as home to one of the most impressive automobile collections you will find anywhere.  And over the next couple of weekends, they're opening up it's doors.

The Old Montana Prison Halloween Haunted House is returning this year and its theme is "THERE'S TROUBLE IN THE CELLHOUSE".  The event is sponsored by the Powell County Museum and Arts Foundation, and they tell us that "evil has taken over the Old Montana Prison in Deer Lodge" and warn you that this is one of the scariest Halloween attractions in Montana.  The Haunted House is open on Friday, October 20th, Saturday 21st, and again on Friday, the 27th, and Saturday, the 28th.  The "doors of the Old Prison will open for those who think they are brave enough to venture into it's shadows" from 6 pm to midnight. Admission for those10 to 17 years old is $10.00 and the price is $20.00 for adults.  Organizers promise that the scares will be different each evening.

Tickets will be available the night of the event at the front desk of the Old Prison Visitor Center.
