Butte Firefighters in Los Angeles to help battle the blaze
The tragic wildfire situation in Los Angeles continues as the Palisades Fire, already the most destructive in L.A. history, pushes inland leaving death and destruction in its' wake. Already the fire has claimed 10 lives and estimates put its damage upwards of 150 billion dollars having consumed more than 9,000 structures at last count. At least 130,000 residents have been evacuated with warnings stretching as far north as Ventura Boulevard.

While we collectively gasp at those pictures, the urge to help comes naturally to anyone who considers themselves an American or, more specifically, a Montanan. Helping each other is a big part of how Montanans have survived for generations and even today, when disaster strikes anywhere in the world, you can count on Montana to lend a helping hand. A lot of the time it is by sending money. Many times, Montana will send truckloads of medicine and emergency supplies. For this unfolding disaster though, Butte is doing one better.
Engine 3 from the Butte-Silver Bow Fire Department with Captain Jerod Gonzalez, Firefighter Levi Davenport and Firefighter Jake Hanley are meeting up with their strike team and along with Montana firefighters from other departments are on an estimated 18-day deployment to help battle the wildfires. The Montana crew has arrived and is awaiting inspection and deployment.
These brave individuals have not only our admiration but our prayers for their safety as they put their lives on the line for others once again.
