Original Mineyard readies for butte-silver bow county fair
In her 145-year history, the Original Mineyard has been many things. First, of course, it was, well, the Original Mineyard where underground mining operations took place from 1878 to 1976. Since the year of our nation's bicentennial, it has worn many hats. A storage area. A festival grounds. A city park. Even a wedding site and reception area. Starting Thursday, the Original Mineyard will turn into a fairground for a weekend as the Butte-Silver Bow County Fair moves north to this popular Uptown gathering site. And it wouldn't be a county fair without the area's 4-H members.
4-H activities at the Original will start at 2pm Thursday with the small animal show, continue at 5pm with livestock showmanship and conclude with the 4-H dance at 9pm.
Just a couple weeks back the Original was the main site for another unbelievably successful Montana Folk Festival and the big stage will be put back into use for a couple of shows to close out fair activities on Friday and Saturday.
Rising Country Music star Priscilla Block will headline Friday night with a show starting at 7pm. Here is a link to tickets. Priscilla is currently in the top ten with a duet with Justin Moore called ''You, Me and Whiskey".
Festivities will close at 7:30 with High Ore Road who are coming off a huge show last week at Music on Main.
Look for jumps over the weekend by Levi Renz & 406 Freestyle Motocross, performances by magician Jeff Martin as well as kids' activities, cornhole, a cake auction and even a pie eating contest. Here is a closer look at what you are going to find over the next couple of days.
