Uniquely “Butte” things to check out if you’re in for the State Baseball Tournament
Butte, if nothing else, loves to have visitors. Over the past couple of decades we have grown our image to a welcoming tourist destination whether you're in town for one of the festivals, tournaments or just a weekend trip. Here are some of the things you should see while you're here.
COPPER KING MANSION
Once home to Copper King William A. Clark and his family, the Copper King Mansion is a fascinating look at how the ruling class lived during Butte's mining heyday. Tours are now being offered and you can even make your stay overnight as it is now a popular Bed and Breakfast.
WORLD MUSEUM OF MINING
The World Museum of Mining is simply amazing. From the exhibits such as the mineral and gem room to the doll collection, you'll find an incredible recreation of early Butte in "Hell Roarin' Gulch" and the actual headframe of the Orphan Girl Mine. You can actually tour the inside of the Orphan Girl at the 100 level.
GRANITE MOUNTAIN MEMORIAL
At the top of the hill you will find the Granite Mountain Memorial which recognizes one of the darkest days in Butte History as 167 men perished underground in a horrific fire. The Memorial sits above the actual Granite Mountain headframe and it's location at the top of the hill gives a spectacular view of the Bell Diamond headframe, the north side of the Berkeley Pit and the city of Butte in the valley below.
Welcome to Butte. We hope you have a wonderful visit.
