The Christmas Season in the Mining City is synonymous with the Uptown Christmas Stroll, the extensive Uptown decorations, the old Meaderville Christmas Display now at home just off Grand Avenue at the Racetrack VFD and, of course, gift giving with friends and family.  Unfortunately, for many here Butte the Christmas Season means a tight or nonexistent budget being stretched to its' maximum with higher energy bills, rising food costs and winter clothing.

For some, their family must choose between food and presents under the tree.  Unfortunately, many will not only find no presents but no tree and even no food in the refrigerator.  In a town such as Butte, this is not acceptable.

Is your family in need of presents, or worse, food and other necessities?  There are several outlets and organizations here in town that are waiting for you to reach out to them.  If you have no presents for your kids, consider applying to the Adopt-A-Family program.  Applications are being accepted through December 13th at the Action Inc. building at 25 W. Silver.  Call (406) 533-6842 for information or visit their website.

If your family is set for the holidays and would like to make another, less fortunate family's Christmas more special, consider adopting a family.  Businesses, clubs, families and individuals can adopt families and shop for them using a wish list provided by the family in their application.  The last day to adopt a family as well as the last day to apply is Friday, December 13th.

A donation to Action Inc. is welcome any time of year as their Mining City Christmas and Holiday Giving Program are solely funded by donations.  For details, click here or call (406) 533-6847.
